Hey, it’s me, Kristen 🙋🏻♀️, and instead of drowning on and on about what I’ve achieved in my career (because snooze fest), I kinda want to share where it all started for me.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll share a bit about my career achievements but I really want to share the stuff I think is even more important.
Like what types of books I read—ahem ahem…romance and smut 🫢😉🌶️—and how I hated doing color in the beginning.
(I know, crazy right?!)
So if you’re in this with me, buckle up! It’s going to be a bumpy ride.

Prologue…
I decided to go to Beauty School because I wanted to be a MUA. My cousin convinced me to start the Cosmetology program instead of Esthetician so I had more career options available to me.
Surprise surprise when I discovered that they didn’t do ANY makeup at Beauty School 🥴
I’m not a quitter, so I figured I would graduate and build my portfolio while I also went to school. Doing hair and makeup for free at anytime for anyone just so I could get pictured to build my brand up (Instagram wasn’t a thing back in 2011), was normal.
I also Go-Go danced 4 nights out of the week for fun. Going out from 9-2:00 AM and then getting up for school from 8:00-4:30 PM.
(I’m wondering where this energy went because ya girl is tired now—probably burnt it all out in my younger years 🙈)
This was just the tip of the iceberg for me. I remember it fondly as my ‘putting in the time’ era.

Hi love! I'm Kristen, founder and CEO of Lumiere University. There is a bunch of professional stuff I can tell you (like how I'm a 9x BTC OneShot Nominee, 30 Under 30 Colorist, and part of the Cosmoprof Artistic Team), but I have a feeling you may know all of that already.
What I really want to tell you is that I thrive when I help stylists like you achieve your growth, personal and professional goals.
Inside my classes in Lumiere university, you will find my teaching style is simplified and that I don't take myself too seriously...

- Meagan Brandy - start with Say You Swear (swoooooon)
- Kate Stewart - start with Flock (be prepared for your heart to rip out)
- Sara J. Maas - start with Throne Of Glass (for my fantasy romance peeps)
